SOLIDARY AND MOBILE LIVING MODEL FOR THE HOMELESS ON TEMPORARY VACANT TERRAINS

What?
On a vacant territory in the Magritte neighborhood in Jette, eight small, mobile houses will be erected for homeless people. They will stay there for at least two years and afterwards will be easy transportable to another terrain. Together with students in architecture, the homeless participants will design and build 8 mobile houses and a collective space that are of good quality, affordable, ecological and self-sufficient. The participants will live there for minimum two years and will be socially supervised.
Who?
A co-creation project by Samenlevingsopbouw Brussel vzw, CAW Brussel vzw and KULeuven, faculty Architecture Brussels. For the construction of the houses, the future inhabitants will receive an education from Atelier Groot Eiland vzw.
My role?
To make a connection between (the participants of) the project and the neighbors. Through
radio, I will investigate what the surrounding neighborhood thinks and feels about the project, and through radio and theatrical interventions, I will make sure the participants and the neighborhood will get to know each other. To do this, I work together with actress Sarah Bourgeois.
